Option to exclude Shorts (or videos) from Metrics
elbecariodeurza
Hi! I'd like to give feedback about the metrics shown in the media kit for youtube. Personally I focus on long form youtube videos while shorts are a secondary thing. While some of the metrics specify videos, the most important ones take into account Shorts too, which greatly diminishes the numbers. Could it be possible to filter the shorts completely so only long videos are taken into account or vice versa for youtubers focusing on shorts?
Thanks for your work!!

I want this for all platforms, especially with the issues TikTok has been having lately with videos not uploading correctly, but we can't delete the videos while a help ticket is open. This causes me to have blacked out videos with low engagement and hurts my numbers.

Hello elbecariodeurza! I have a few more questions for you:
- How frequently do you analyze your YouTube metrics, and would real-time filtering be beneficial for your workflow?
- Are there specific metrics where excluding Shorts would be most impactful for your analysis?
- Would you prefer a default setting to exclude Shorts, or would a toggle option for each metric be more useful?

1.How frequently do you analyze your YouTube metrics, and would real-time filtering be beneficial for your workflow?
I check my YouTube metrics weekly to track growth and engagement. Real-time filtering wouldn’t be essential, but having the ability to filter Shorts dynamically when reviewing data would make the process much more efficient.
2.Are there specific metrics where excluding Shorts would be most impactful for your analysis?
Yes, mainly in engagement-related metrics such as comments, likes, and engagement rate. Shorts tend to have different interaction patterns compared to long-form videos, which skews these numbers and makes them less reflective of my actual audience engagement.
3.Would you prefer a default setting to exclude Shorts, or would a toggle option for each metric be more useful?
A global toggle to exclude Shorts/Videos/None across all metrics would probably be the most user-friendly solution. Ultimately, whatever is easiest and most practical for you to implement on a development level works for me if it accomplishes the goal.
Thanks for the quick response and for the work you do!
