Marketing Consent

Hi Beacons team,
I'd like to suggest an improvement to how marketing consent is collected and managed within Beacons.
For businesses operating in the UK, it's important that email marketing consent can be collected in a way that supports compliance with UK GDPR and PECR requirements. Where consent is being relied upon, users should be able to make a clear, affirmative choice, and consent shouldn't be assumed through inactivity or a pre-selected option.
It would therefore be really useful if Beacons could introduce an optional marketing consent checkbox when customers download a free digital product or complete a checkout.
Ideally, this functionality would:
Allow creators to add a custom marketing opt-in checkbox to checkout and digital product download forms.
Keep the checkbox unticked by default.
Allow customers to complete their purchase or download without being required to opt into marketing.
Record the customer's consent status, including the date/time and the product or form through which consent was provided.
Display this information within the Audience/Analytics dashboard.
Allow creators to filter or segment customers based on their marketing consent status.
Allow email campaigns to be sent specifically to customers who have opted into marketing.
This would be particularly valuable for UK creators and businesses looking to use Beacons while maintaining appropriate records of marketing consent and supporting their UK GDPR and PECR compliance obligations.

Thanks for sharing this, Rey — super helpful context, especially around UK GDPR/PECR and the need for an explicit, unticked-by-default opt-in. I’m going to pass this along to our team to review (custom marketing consent checkbox at checkout/free downloads, consent logging with timestamp/source, visibility in Audience/Analytics, and segmentation for email sends), and we’ll follow up once we have next steps.
