Cookie banner for website for GDPR compliance
L
Linnéa Persson
To be able to be compliant with GDPR, there need to be an option to enable a cookie notice banner when using your website builder to have my website with you. I know there is a toggle for bio settings which I enabled, but a similar is needed for website app. Customers that are visiting my website do also need to have the opportunity to easily do selections from this cookie option what cookies they prefer.
Since you do not have an HTML block when setting up a website it is not possible to add it myself with eg. from "Cookie bot".
This is a requirement which I assume more will ask about who is using you for their websites since it is required by law of GDPR.

Request for clarification on cookie banner and privacy compliance
Giuseppe Alessio Frasca
Dear Beacons.ai team,
I am reaching out for clarification regarding the activation of the cookie notice on my account. I have enabled the "Show cookie notice to satisfy requirements such as GDPR" option, but I noticed that no cookie banner is displayed, and users do not have the option to accept or reject cookies.
I am concerned that this setup may not comply with privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and similar frameworks, as it could imply the collection of data without users' explicit consent.
Currently, I am not collecting data through the following tracking tools:
Google Analytics: GA4
Google Analytics: Universal Analytics (Deprecated)
Facebook Pixel
TikTok Pixel
Pinterest Pixel
Additionally, I have not entered any IDs for these tools. I would like to know whether the data you currently collect through my links is completely anonymous or not.
Could you please confirm whether the current setup complies with privacy regulations, or advise if I need to take additional steps to ensure compliance?
I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
J

GDPR Compliance for EU Users
Mae
Hi Beacons Team,
I love using Beacons for my digital products, and it’s been a great tool for my business! However, as a small business owner based in Germany, I need to ensure my store complies with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) since I operate in the EU.
It would be really helpful if Beacons could offer more built-in GDPR features, such as:
✅ A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for EU users
✅ A cookie consent banner to ensure compliance with GDPR regulations
✅ More transparency on how Beacons handles EU customer data
Would love to know if GDPR compliance is something Beacons is working on for the future!
Thank you!
Jacob Choi-Durham
Hello Mae! I have a few more questions for you:
- What specific features or functionalities would you like to see in a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) provided by Beacons?
- Are there any particular aspects of cookie consent banners that are important for your business's compliance needs?
- Can you provide examples of how other platforms handle EU customer data transparency that you find effective?
Mae
Jacob Choi-Durham hii!
Here are my thoughts on your questions:
- Data Processing Agreement (DPA) Features:
Clear details on how Beacons processes, stores, and transfers user data, especially for EU customers.
An option to sign or acknowledge the DPA directly within the platform.
Transparency on third-party processors Beacons may use and how data is shared.
Clear instructions for handling data subject requests (e.g., access, deletion, or modification of personal data).
Information on data retention policies and security measures.
- Cookie Consent Banner Needs:
A GDPR-compliant cookie banner that allows users to opt-in or opt-out of non-essential cookies.
Clear descriptions of the types of cookies used (necessary, analytics, marketing, etc.).
A link to the full cookie policy and the ability for users to adjust preferences at any time.
- Effective EU Data Transparency Practices from Other Platforms:
Shopify provides a detailed GDPR center, including a DPA that merchants can easily access.
Wix has an integrated cookie consent manager that lets users customize their preferences.
Etsy includes a robust data protection framework with clear opt-in choices and automatic data deletion options for EU customers.
Let me know if you need further clarification or if there are upcoming changes I should be aware of.
Looking forward to your response!
Best,
Mae

GDPR Compliance Issue – Cookie Banner on Beacons.ai Websites
Juanita Demo
I am writing to express my concern regarding the lack of a cookie banner on websites created through your platform. As you may be aware, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe mandates that websites collecting user data via cookies must provide explicit consent options through a compliant cookie banner.
Unfortunately, the absence of this feature on Beacons.ai sites exposes users and their businesses to the risk of non-compliance, potentially leading to substantial fines. Given the importance of data privacy regulations in the EU, we kindly request clarification on whether you plan to implement a cookie banner soon.
Could you please confirm if this functionality is on your development roadmap? If so, we would appreciate an estimated timeline for its release. Ensuring GDPR compliance is crucial for European users of your platform, and we hope that this matter will be addressed as a priority.
Jacob Choi-Durham
Hey Juanita Demo, thanks for your feedback! I have a few more questions for you:
- What specific features or options would you like to see in the cookie banner to ensure it meets your compliance needs?
- Are there any particular third-party cookie management solutions you recommend or currently use that we should consider integrating with?
- How urgent is the need for this feature on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being extremely urgent?

Hi! Thanks for your reply.
I am not an expert on the legal aspects of it, but I’ll try to share my point of view as business owner and creator. The core principle of my request is based on the fact that any website visitor in the EU must be able to manage their cookies preferences when visiting any website. Companies whose websites do not have this feature, risk substantial fines as per GDPR regulation. I believe that a good summary could be found at https://www.cookiebot.com/en/gdpr-cookies/
Currently, as I understand it, the Beacons "link in bio" product includes a generic cookie consent manager, but visitors cannot customize their preferences. However, websites built on Beacons do not have a cookie consent manager at all.
Compliance with GDPR is to be considered a top priority for businesses operating in the EU - above 8/10 - and I believe that by not having a cookie consent manager for websites built with Beacons, all your customers in the EU are at high risk of non-compliance with GDPR, depending on how cookies might or might not be currently used (I can’t comment on how the platform is technically built, but I’m working with the assumption that cookies are typically used for tracking/analytics).
If the product team does not prioritise building this feature in the near term, I believe that myself and other EU customers might unfortunately have to consider choosing/migrating to another platform that supports it.
Thanks in advance for the attention to this feature request!

Hiya Giuseppe Alessio Frasca, thanks for this post! I have a few more questions for you:
- Have you noticed any specific pages or scenarios where the cookie banner should appear but doesn't?
- Are there any other privacy compliance frameworks, besides GDPR and CCPA, that you are concerned about?
- Would you like to receive updates on any changes or improvements made to the cookie notice feature?
Giuseppe Alessio Frasca
Jacob Choi-Durham Yes, the cookie banner only notifies that cookies are being used, but it does not give the user the option to freely accept or reject them.
Yes, I am also concerned about other privacy regulations, such as the LGPD, in addition to GDPR and CCPA.
Yes, I would like to receive updates on any changes or improvements made to the cookie notice feature.

Hello, what's the status of this development?
Jacob Choi-Durham
Great to hear your perspective, Linnéa Persson! I have a few more questions for you:
- Could you provide more details on the specific types of cookies (e.g., functional, performance, targeting) you would like your visitors to be able to select from?
- Are there any specific GDPR requirements or guidelines you're following that we should be aware of for this feature?
- Would you like this feature to be customizable in terms of appearance and messaging, or would a standard implementation suffice?

Jacob Choi-Durham I am currently on vacation and also waiting a respond from my ads manager to check if she’s having any additional input before I reply back. My apologies for the delay.

Jacob Choi-Durham Hi again Jacob and thank you so much for your patience,
Wanted to reply to you when not on vacation mode, easy to forget important details or else. Now I'm back and will be quicker with replies.
My feedback:
I would love the users to be able to select which cookies they approve and are following the guidelines from this website: https://www.cookiebot.com/en/cookie-banner/ the banner that this site has does follow the GDPR guidelines as I am aware.
So it would be great if the function will allow visitors to actively select or deselect cookies, as you can see in the print screen, since it is a requirement not just giving the option to deny or allow but now you also need to be able to select/deselect specific cookies.
Specific cookies I prefer: Cookies that Beacons select ofc (think you maybe know better what category those goes underneath), in addition
a) functional/ necessary, b) preferences c) statistics d) marketing (including tracking when in use of third party tools such as meta pixel, google analytics and similar)
Did this respond to your questions? Or else let me know if you need more information.
2) In terms of customizable and appearance, I do not have anything particular in mind as of now so a standard implementation will do accept of as I already mentioned, easy ways to select or deselect specific cookickes in addition to allow all and deny - I think as in the picture a similar appearance would do, since it looks easy to understand and straightforward with the "togglers on the side"
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Not able to attach print screens though, are you able to see I've attached something?
